Subtitle: Selected Poems of Lilian Leveridge; World War One Diaries and Letters of Frank Leveridge

Lilian Leveridge was born in England and came to Canada in 1883 with her parents Anna and David Leveridge and siblings, to begin a new life in the wilds of the northern part of Hastings County at Coe Hill. Their pioneering lives were told in the book Your Loving Anna.

Lilian became a respected poet and short-story writer in her own right, and internationally famous in the early 1900s for her touching and evocative poem Over the Hills of Home, written as a tribute to her younger brother Frank who died in the First World War. This new volume of selected poems shows the diversity of Lilian’s interests and styles.

The war diaries and letters of Frank Leveridge have been also excerpted in this book: in them we see the exuberance he felt about going off to war to fight for his country; this was before the age of mass communication, before the world learned of the true horrors of the conflict.
