Observations of a Simple Man
Alan Younger

5.25 x 8 - 276 Pages

I thoroughly enjoyed reading through these stories by Alan Younger, broken down as they are into weekly portions under seasonal headings. This format resonates with the familiar but profound words of the sage of Ecclesiastes who writes, “To everything there is a season.” Alan’s often “humorous at his own expense” reflections of life back on the land reveal that through the ups and downs of learning to mark the Creator’s hand in all things under the sun, a true and wonderful wisdom is to be had for those who pause long enough, as he says, to “drink it all in.”
The Rev. David Crawley, Rector, St. Peter & St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Ottawa, Ontario

Observations of a Simple Man is an invitation into its author’s personal and spiritual growth. Full of heart-warming reminiscences and thoughtfully considered values, the book is vast in scope, precise in its wisdom.
Mazen Guirguis, PhD, Dean, Faculty of Humanities, Kwantlen Polytechnic University

Alan Younger was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario where he practised dentistry for almost 50 years. In 1980, he and his wife Catherine moved to a pioneer-era farm about 30 miles from Ottawa on Mississippi Lake near Carleton Place, ON. Dr. Younger continued to maintain the dentistry practice in Ottawa for more than 15 years.
Life in the country provided wonderful inspiration to reflect on the relationship between humankind and the Creator. Dr. Younger believes our obligation is to care for the wonderful world God has provided for us.
This book is a series of reflections and meditations on these points.
It is offered in praise to God for all His blessings.
