This is a story about a Persian Princess who rides a camel into Bethlehem with a group of modern Magi, the biblical "Wisemen from the East." The journey starts in Baghdad, but our Princess does not join the caravan until they reach the Jordan River, when her Jordanian-Palestinian parents give her permission to leave her high school a few days before the start of the Christmas holidays. She meets her companions, mostly a semi-professional soccer team who have kicked balls across the open deserts and crowded city stadiums on this reenactment of the first century walk and camel ride. The dozen or so international group of Magi, outfitted with the latest electronic gear, face many obstacles as they move through the Palestinian-Israeli militarized zones. The goal of the first Magi was to find and worship the Baby King, Jesus, the Messiah. The goal of the twenty-first century magi is to discover how nations and people can live together in peace while seeking Jesus.
