Personal Inspirations

My husband Harold and I settled in Hearst, Ontario where he was employed by TransCanada Pipelines from 1973 to 1983. I was the correspondent for the monthly magazine Along the Line at station eighty-six for the duration of my husband's career.

A specific article “Where I Live” was published in the magazine and was picked up by a local newspaper back home, The Simcoe Reformer Daily Newspaper. I was surprised and honored that they picked up my article and published it.

In 1983 the Pipeline transferred us to Nipigon, Ontario where I published the monthly newsletter for our Immanuel Lutheran Church until 1985.

I believe the incidents in my life have given me the religious inspiration I have that I hope my poems represent.

Anna Vanderlip was born in Hamilton, Ontario of immigrant parents. She is the third child born of ten siblings. At age four the family moved to Norfolk County where her parents grew tobacco. At age fourteen they moved to Simcoe, Ontario where Anna attended Simcoe Composite Secondary School.
