A Historical Review

Muslims claim that Islam is a religion of peace—but where? In Nigeria? In Algeria? In the Sudan? In Egypt? In Iran? In Afghanistan? In Iraq? Or in Pakistan?

In the Qur’an? “Kill them, and Allah will torment them by your hands. He will humiliate them and give you victory over them…” (Sura 9:14). “Fight those who believe not… even if they be People of the book [Christians and Jews] until they have willingly agreed to pay the Jizya tribute in recognition of their submissive state” (Sura 9:29).
In the Hadith: Sahih Muslim (1:33), “I have been commanded to wage war against mankind until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and that they establish prostration prayer, and pay the alms-tax [i.e., convert to Islam]. If they do so, their blood and property are protected” (Sahih Muslim C9B1N31; also in Sahih Bukhari B2N24).
However Jesus commanded Christians to love their enemies. In the Bible: “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you…” (Matthew 5:44).
