About the Author
The author was born in England in 1942, the daughter of refugees from Nazi Germany. In 1964, she immigrated to Canada, pursued graduate work and was appointed to teach German at a university in western Canada. In total she can speak five languages.
In the early eighties, she began teaching English as a second language. In 1989, she felt led to China in answer to a call she had received as a teenager to serve God in a foreign land. She stayed in China teaching English until 2002. She is now retired and lives both in Canada and in the United States, where she is involved with international students.
